I’m Just Ken Dubbed “This Generations’ Bohemian Rapsody” By Triple J Disc Jockey

Hot button political issues and current world events have been put on hold this morning at the Triple J offices, as newest DJ, Damien Smith, has made a bold claim about Ryan Goslings’ smash hit “I’m Just Ken”.

“It’s like this generations’ Bohemian Rapsody” said Damien in all seriousness, as he queued up the Barbie movie song which currently sits at 66 on the Betoota Billboard Hot 100.

What Damien, the Newtown resident, by way of his parent’s house in Double Bay, failed to realise was the same was said about Travis Scott’s Sicko Mode at the 2018 Hottest 100. Ben & Liam, Triple J’s breakfast hosts at the time, made the claim after Sicko Mode reached #3 in the countdown, which angered many online. Some think it was in jest, others not so much. We reached out for comment, but Ben & Liam were too busy on their new commercial radio show in Melbourne.

When informed of the infamous 2018 incident, Damien doubled down. “It’s got everything though, it’s an 80s power anthem, it goes places. It’s even got Slash playing guitar on it and Van Halen’s son, and one of the guys from the Foo Fighters. It’ll win an Oscar for sure.”

“I totally agree. Like Sicko Mode is still a vibe, but Travis Scott, yikes.” said co-host Maria Marcello, casually alluding to the tragic events of Scott’s Astroworld festival, which took the lives of ten concert goers.

“I’d much rather hang out with the Gos, he seems like a fun guy” replied Damien, deftly turning the conversation away from potentially having to bring up a crippling tragedy.

“I’d hang out with the Gos anytime, he’s so dreamy!” giggled Maria, making her crush on the 42 year old actor very apparent.

“Like he’s literally me” said Damien, the self-professed Meme Lord, trying his best to connect with Triple J’s burgeoning Zoomer audience, who’ll be quick to dub the new host a “boomer”.

The pair went on to talk about the Barbie movie for the next 30 minutes, forgetting to load up any new music for their listeners.
